The Quantitative Research Intern position at Passage Global Capital Management offers a unique opportunity to explore financial market data and seek out inefficiencies which may be integrated into our investment and trading strategies. This internship is located at our Sarasota, Florida office.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with our research and investment team to clean data, engineer features, and extract signals using machine learning techniques
- Design and backtest various quantitative models and systematic trading strategies and components
- Write modular and efficient python functions and classes
- Work with machine learning and statistical models with direct applications in our algorithmic trading strategies
- Learn and work with new APIs and packages
- Quickly parse and implement insights from technical resources like books, papers, blogs, or articles
- Dive deeply into the intricacies of financial markets to identify patterns and solve complex problems
Qualifications:
Required:
- Obtained or pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
- Strong Python experience including proficiency in Pandas and NumPy
- Strong understanding of core statistical concepts
Strongly Desired:
- Experience with polars, numba, JAX, and multithreading in Python
- In-depth exposure to linear models (PCA, etc.)
- Experience with (big) data processing
- Experience with forecasting and applied regression techniques
- Familiarity with optimization
- Demonstrated understanding and experience with machine learning and applied statistical models such as transformer-based models, time series, NLP, and LSTM variants
- Demonstrated interest or knowledge of quantitative trading / investment
Additional Advantageous Attributes:
- Experience with Docker and cloud hosting services (AWS)
- Experience with databases and live streaming dashboards
- Experience with robust error handling practices
- Experience with signal processing
- Experience with Apache Arrow
- Experience with JSON, Redis, serialization, handling caches, or message buses
- Experience with Ray, Horovod, or other distributed training frameworks
